About this compound

Tirzepatide

Tirzepatide is a synthetic 39-amino-acid peptide that binds both the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptor (GIPR) and the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R).

The sequence contains α-aminoisobutyric acid at positions 2 and 13 and ends in a C-terminal amide. The lysine at position 20 is acylated on its side chain with 1,20-eicosanedioic acid through a γ-glutamate and two 2-[2-(2-aminoethoxy)ethoxy]acetyl spacers, which is what gives the molecule its long plasma half-life in the literature.

It is used in receptor pharmacology, competitive-binding and cAMP-signaling research on incretin receptors.
