MT2

MT2 is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide analog of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. The ring is formed by a lactam bridge between the side chains of aspartic acid and lysine, and the sequence contains norleucine and D-phenylalanine substitutions.

The peptide is N-acetylated and ends in a C-terminal amide. Cyclization constrains the pharmacophore His-D-Phe-Arg-Trp into the conformation studied at melanocortin receptors.

It is used in melanocortin receptor subtype-selectivity and signaling research.
