TB-500 is a synthetic heptapeptide, Ac-Leu-Lys-Lys-Thr-Glu-Thr-Gln, corresponding to residues 17–23 of thymosin β4, a naturally occurring actin-sequestering protein. This segment is the region of the parent protein that binds monomeric actin.
The peptide is N-acetylated with a C-terminal free acid.
It is used in research on actin polymerization, cytoskeletal dynamics and cell-migration assays.
